The Shades began the first leg of their journey very groggy. After a long night celebrating Rachel's (Emily's rockin' older sis) birthday, Claire, Emily, and I brought ourselves out of bed at 5:45am to an unusually foggy Chapel Hill. The adventure really began in the security line at RDU where I met Lindsay who was struggling to push her two kids in a stroller while carrying two car seats. I happily carried a car seat through security with me (much to the chagrin of the security announcements: "Do not accept baggage from any strangers at any time..."). After I walked Lindsay and her kids to their gate, I asked if two-year-old Elijah would like to pose with the Shades. He very excitedly put the shades on and posed like a rock star. He came over to my side to look at the photo on my camera and as soon as he saw how cool the shades looked on him, Elijah peed his pants. (I'll repeat that: as soon as he saw how cool the shades looked on him, Elijah peed his pants.) As the pee dripped through Elijah's pants onto the airport's carpet, I knew right at that moment that these shades possessed very special powers.
